Side Stander Sensor

Many of safety features in motorcycle are applied in Indonesia’s product motorcycle. Like in Suzuki Skywave 125, Honda BeAT or in Kawasaki Ninja 250 R and KLX 250 R. If the side stander is active the machine will not start anyway.

A problem appeared when those motorcycles used for racing, because the mechanics usually remove the side stander. We afraid that if when we remove the stander and the sensor is still discharged in the motorcycle, it can’t start.

For instance Kawasaki KLX 250 R when used for enduro racing. The stander was removed and the mechanics just put the sensor on the chassis near left footstep. Motor Plus journalist when participated in enduro racing at Jakarta sometimes ago said that when landing after a bowl, suddenly the motorcycle was not running. He first thought that the engine is overheated. Apparently, the sensor’s switch was turned off.

“That’s because the switch uses ON/OFF system just like a common electric switch.” Engineer Manager of PT. Kawasaki Motor Indonesia (KMI), Reiner Sitorus explained. There’s always possibility if the switch is put at random will be easier to turned if for instance hit by shoe. Automatically the switch will turn change and effected in the electricity to CDI is turn off.

Maybe it will be better if remove also with the switch although it is connected with engine-stop and clutch sensor.
